I have the Nissan version of the same van, and I too have a 650l tank in the back (always full when I leave in the morning)

I stick 30 quids worth in there and get approx 180-200 miles out of it.
Considering I'm loaded up almost all the time I think thats ok.

Mine is the short wheelbase 2 litre one.

  Do you have a roofrack on it with ladders? That can kill your mpg very easily.

I've got the 100 dci version with a 500 litre system, roofbars, and a ladder.  After filling to the brim, I can get around 430 - depending how I drive.  I think it's a 90 litre diesel tank so I could probably take it down a lot further but I don't want to run the risk of running out.  It costs me around £65 (about 72 litres approx) to fill it up from that point.  So that's about £65 with about 18 litres left in the tank after doing about 430 miles.  It sounds like you have a more powerful version than mine and your water weight is usually higher so maybe my figures aren't such a good guide for you.

Do you fill it up?
if you do, that is obvoiusly more weight to carry on top of your 650kg of water. I try to travel on half to quarter of a tank seems to last a little longer.
