can anybody tell us where they got their insurance for their wfps our van is but they wont do the system.
This is usually available from your public liability insurer though maybe some motor insurers do such policies. When I looked into the details, I decided that it wasn't worth the bother of insuring the stuff. I say this because there were certain stipulations such as:- Following an accident only the cost of the damaged goods will be covered and the excess was high. As WFP systems are component based, there was a high chance that the excessive excess would exceed or be very close to the value of the damaged part. Please note that labour costs for refitting a damaged part were not covered. I worked it out that the only time it would be worth covering the WFP equipment under the policies that I was shown would be in the event of your van being stolen or your van being burnt out i.e. total loss or close to it. Even then, the labour costs of fitting the new stuff in your next van and the speedlining etc would not be covered and you could end up with an excess charge of something like £500. In an ordinary prang up the chances of there being much insurable damage to the system would be low. You could end up needing a new tank if it was punctured but you could end up saving money by just buying the part rather rather than paying the insurance company the excess depending on the type of tank. I felt that the insurance companies wanted a lot without offering much in return as they were talking about premiums of £300 - £500. OK so burn outs do happen. Theft happens. Maybe the money is better spent on making the van more thiefproof. Maybe I talked to the wrong insurance companies.
