« on: October 29, 2011, 12:09:10 am »
what is best way to do a run of ibc so that one flows into the other as it gets full,is it by the tap at the bottom or another way and have each tank higher than the next one

A pipe running between the bottom of each tank.  A reasonably fat pipe so that the water levels up more quickly when transferring to vans.
Tanks should be kept level with each other.

I found it was more cost effective to put a sub pump in each tank. Then connect the bottom by 1/2 inch hose. They fill at the same time but use 2 pumps to transfer the water. Also good if you have more than one van

Its just sheets of polystyrene, at the time it worked out a lot cheaper than kingspan/celotex. They didn't freeze during last winters extreme temps, so it will do fine. After the cost of pipework/adapters/black paint/timber and the 8 IBC's I was happy to try out the cheaper option first.

do you have ro's in the vans then? i'm going through about 1500 litres a day some days. Will be nice to have a proper place to work from though. keep everything organized. Even got young Kate coming to work from the office too, can't actually wait to get the show on the road :)

On what grounds do you have to get planning permission?
I was worried our estate had a covenant on it to prevent signwritten vans and businesses. However it's now over eleven years old so I don't think it's a problem.

If you connect them at the bottom they will all fill up at the same time/rate. If you connect at the top one will fill first & so on.

Bear this in mind as it will affect how fast the overall level rises which will affect how fast the water decants.
