Spilt mutli purpose brown stain
« on: October 25, 2011, 06:58:46 pm »
Have been to a customers house today for a quote and their cleaner had spilt a mutli purpose cleaner on their carpet done a test on it and the stain remained. I'm still getting to grips with carpet cleaning and was wondering if anyone had any ideas of a chemical to use. I only have a carpet shampoo by Evens(yes i know not the best but trying to convince the boss to invest in better products).

Cheers for any advise

Couldn't see any writing saying it had bleach in it. The trouble is that its a very light brown carpet and the stain is a few shades darker but very visable.

There could still be a chemical reaction between the cleaning solution and the wool.
What you have is not the residue of something spilt but a reaction, and on that basis I'd bet against you being able to clean it out.

Well you've got nothing to lose, just make sure the customer is aware there's a 90% chance you won't get it out. If you do manage it you'll be a god to the customer.
BTW it's unlikely the contents will include the word bleach, as they prefere to use any numerous words which are basically the same.

Is it possible that its not the cleaner, but rather a sticky residue from the cleaner attracting soil? What tests did you carry out?

A normal household iron generating steam through a folded white towel " might " work or at least greatly reduce the stain.   With caution  :o :o :o :o
