Must disagree with above post, sorry mate,
You MUST do the letters first! Calls and emails too! keep a record of all contact with company!
You must (if it ends up in court) be able to prove that you have tried every avenue open to you to 'reasonably' recover this debt.
This will go massively in your favour in court.
I'm in the process right now... just awaiting the courts judgement any day now.
I am suing a company that owed me £1500, by the time you add interest & compensation plus compo for other stuff their final court amount is £2600.
You have to sue sometimes, think of the loss of earnings for a start! This contract was worth £3600 per year now its gone!
Go for as much as you possibly can, don't let the numptys get away with it EVER!
If you need any help PM me and we can chat, happy to tell you all my experience with what I'm going through.
PS It does take ages, patience really is a virtue with Court proceedings.
