Hi all. have recently brought some round. most is well priced but about 30% is bad. for example 25pound houses for 10-12 quid even firty pound houses for a tenner.  this is compared to my pricing structure which i think is competitive. it needs a definite price increase in your experience how would u go about it.

hmm i was talking to a window cleaner today who was in a similar situation well he built the round up 10 years ago and he is doing say £15-£17 houses for about £8-£10 these are semis bay fronted side windows small bay up and down at the rear too fair amount of glass indeed.

clearly under priced thing is they never ever dream of canceling and he also has many in a row also that said still under priced.

these houses must have been the first houses on the round, clean them say 3-4 times to establish your self as the new windy and get your investment out of it, then it would be your call worse case you take a 30% hit if they all cancel,
realistic you might be left with over 20%+ because alot of people would understand its quite cheap and the going rate is more these days.

i wouldnt rush into it thou take your time good luck with it!

This is a thing I have often thought about myself when I see rounds for sale. Windies selling rounds that have never had an increase in years and still wanting good money for there round.I just cannot see value in a round badly managed for years. No all work is good work.So often we  see guys quite proud of themselves for not having an increase for some time. Inflation dictate there must have increases. Or are all increases just rip off.

A lot depends on how good the previous cleaner was, and what you are doing better than him/her.

We bought some work last year and increased prices 20% and lost about 20% of the customers as it turned out.    So we are working less for the same income which makes it worthwhile.

Make sure you work the round a few times first before increasing prices to show them you are worth it.

had a similar problem mate , but it was only a few houses on the round , after 2 months i told custys i was doubling prices i lost all 3 but there was no way i was cleaning large 4 bed detached houses with large connys for a fiver ,  That was 4 yr ago.  you need to find out how long it has been since the last increase . it has been 3-4 yrs or more people should'nt grumble to much

so you are doing them for £10 or thereabouts now. very competetive pricing id say,  are you in the south or north

Simply send them a letter with the price increase. In the letter explain that one of the reasons the last cleaner sold the work must have been because they were seriously underpriced and at that price they will struggle to find a reliable long term cleaner.

Don't work for less than you can get elsewhere especially not over winter.

Plus in future dont buy work which is seriously underpriced unless you are prepared to increase right away.

you shouldnt of bought the round if it was underpriced.if they are very compact you should still earn a fair whack of money though esp if your wfp.

keep the prices the same until next april then say £2 a house increase.theyll know then if your professional and whether your service is good.if most of the work is fairly good you wont lose too much even if a few cancel.

you could always bump em up a fiver and put them on a longer frequency so they save money but your time is more profitable.might be worth a shot.

Its all.in the south and i payed just over 3 times. like i sed most work is well priced but as it was a large round per month i weighed it up and thought it was worth the gamble on the price increase.  has any one else doubled prices and got away i think my pus is we clean frames hes were black but they pay fir what they get im hopeing less than 30% cancel what do you think from your experiences
