hi,i,ve been doing an office clean for about 18 mnths with no probs whatsoever, the office is over 2 floors ,theres 8 desks and 2 seperate offices on the ground floor and 2 offices, boardroom, kitchen and 2 toilets on the 1st floor,oh and stairwell..i go do a full clean on saturday and hoover upstairs and empty bins on weds and charge £40,anyway got an email from the new office manager(of 6wks) saying  you have to do cleaning at 4.30 on fridays as i dont want you to do it unless someone is here,so i think wots that suppose to mean.. am i right in thinking shes questioning my honesty or am i being too touchy,at the moment i feel like telling her to do one,in the past 18 mnths i haven,t had 1 single problem, the new boss is a young lass and a bit of a jobsworth....ps do any of you guys ever clean offices while the people are still working in em

most probably down to there h & safety as you are working on your own, dont take it personnaly but you could ask politly as to why and if theres any way around it, we had one who said we couldnt do it before 8.00, but after explaining to him it was safer for us to go earlier (window cleaning) due to access with cars etc he said we could go in earlier but have to phone it i n to him 1st so he knows were on site, hope that helps, george

Yes we get this all the time, the health and safety aspect could be an issue from the lone worker point of view, the counter argument is trailing leads, wet floors etc which could be argued as more hazardous? For a variety of reasons we prefer cleaning outside of normal working areas, who wants to try and talk on the phone when hoovering is going on in the background, its easier to arrange cover if someone cant turn up, parking/traffic etc isnt such an issue etc, but the client is the boss and if that is what they want and if it suits them I guess you have to go with it and do what you can otherwise they may get someone else.

If there is a new boss, doesn't suprise me at all. She has probably noticed there is only one of you. If its a health and saftey issue its a a matter of the order you do things in, like first to last. If it as the above commenter said slippy flours, get communications going and ask what the problem is
