im finding now ive got a van mount and the best equipment im burning through my work at a good fast rate and find it easy to manage my 340+ customers.im picking up the odd new job here and there most weeks but im getting used to working 5-6 hours on the glass per day.i dont know if im getting lazy but i used to do 9am-5pm and not earn the money im earning now when i was trad only.

i dont want to work flat out every day like i used to as it grinds me down after a while and i get fed up with it all.there is extra time spent filling up and maintaining poles,etc so im still doing a fair whack most days.maybe im getting old(nearly 40!).

do some of you lads still do an 8 hour day with wfp and does it grind you down after a while?

im also thinking if i work too hard ill end up with RSI over time.

i see a fair few trad guys that are a lot older than me still working at 4pm when im driving home.sometimes i finish at 3pm esp during hot weather with still a good amount of work cleaned.

i think im turning into a part timer!!


what are your thoughts guys?

once over frames and glass? one rinse? twice over sills?

ive just got my slx 30 and a toothbrush on the end, whoops i mean sl extreme standard and i really need to start making some money now

depends on type of windows,how dirty they are,flow rate,if the customer is in etc,etc.i really do think your over analizing what is a very simple process!!

work fast and finish early with a good flow rate!!

I didn't do a shorter day with WFP but I did have more time off until I started filling the gaps that it created.
My 6 weekly plod on a ladder became 4 weeks or less with WFP.  I was taking 2 weeks off in every 6.

if your making a good living and your happy why worry

i work 11 till 5pm summer and 9am till 4pm winter,i started
window cleaning so i could work the way i wanted to and be
less a slave to the system

i will never be a millionaire but i do okay and feel far more
relaxed and happy than i was when i was workng 12 hour days

I always try and just work a couple of hours on a friday.  I believe window cleaning is an excellent business to those who enjoy their time off.  To be able to earn up to 40k a year doing 4 days a week is really incredible.  When you think about all your family and friends that complain about the stress of their jobs or the people they work with, you've really gotta count yourself lucky.
On the other hand, to those who expand and expand beyond having maybe 1 part timer with you, i don't quite understand that.  When it comes to having staff and multiple vans etc, I think there's other businesses where you can earn a hell of a lot more money whilst doing the same amount of work and hassle and stress that you get with a big window cleaning business.

I try to work 4 days a week and leave the house most days at 09:00 and like to be home between 14:30 and 15:30 of course there are always the odd longer day and the odd shorter day... aim for 200 days work a year and all is well...if I had to work trad only I know I could not do these hours...

No disrespect to trad...but the pole is just quick in the main.

since i went wfp ive made such a gap in my small round it brill only thing is iget ichy feet want to get more custys but then i feel iam chasing money so i do a few short days to spread it out im 50 so plan to take it easey
