leave your extraction machine running, leave the sebo running and turn it upside down (outside the customer's house!).  Then use the vac hose cuff to clean the crud off.  Simple ;)

get a fork in the brushes and like jim extract all the crap

If it builds up then the brushes need taking off and put in some boiling water to loosen the crap and just pull it off, then use the fork and vac again when you put it back on.

Cheers for the replies all, it had definately gone past a maintenance clean stage, had to remove the brushes and clean em in the sink. Looked like someone had been using it to sweep the hairs up in a turkish barbers the amount of black hair that was clogging it up.

The Mrs will go spare when she sees the sink  :-X

Really?  That's surprising, seems as the machine isn't supposed to be used on anything wet!  Funny people these Germans... :)

Turn mine upside down, and run it,then stick a fork in the moving brushes, and it digs all the muck out great
