Is it worth it?? Machine question
« on: July 09, 2011, 06:56:08 pm »
Evening

I recently changed the PumpTec pump on my machine. And I still have the old one here. I am thinking of replacing all the orings, plunger etc etc. You can get all the valves, orings, spacers, plunger etc off the supplyer for about £30 odd quid, This is alot cheaper than spending 100's on a brand new pumphead each time.

My question is, will the pump still carry on working even tho it had done just over 600 hours if i replace all the internal parts???

I have just taken the pump apart (30 minutes ago) and nothing seems to be damaged!? No knackard orings or spacers. No cracks in the body of the pumphead etc.

So why did it just stop working?

Thanks
Tony

600 hours on a pump is pretty average for the time you should really need to renew the "Plunger Kit"... In fact, you should replace it every 500 hours!

Usually it's the poppet valves and the piston that wear.
The piston goes near the bearing, so you get less piston stroke.
