Ive booked my first gutter clear in for tomorrow, only problem is that its the only gap ive got at the mo and under the kosh time wise.

All ive got is a ladder & standoff and a willing pair of hands. What is the best way to clear a gutter with no equipment? Or would you have any gear I could borrow, near to south Essex

I know its short notice, but your help would be really appreciated.

I use a scoop that I made out of a plastic Lucozade bottle. I cut it in half, diagonally.   

I scoop the grot out and drop it in my bucket. I then wipe the inside of the gutter with a damp cloth.

I don't have a stand off, although it would be a very good idea to get one!

I also don't have a camera, but I do show the customer the contents of the bucket when I have finished the job!

I finally empty the bucket into a heavy duty plastic bin liner, which can be bought from Morrisons for a couple of pounds for a pack of 10.

B & Q used to sell a plastic orange scoop that are good for cleaning out gutters, but a lot will depend on the type of guttering you are cleaning, and the gap between the rooflne.

That's why I use my home made jobbie. It's flexible enough to get under most rooflines. In cases where it can't, I scoop the grot out with my fingers, then use the scoop where there is enough room.

put a pair of disposable latex gloves or marigolds on and scoop it out with your hands.i find this quickest and easiest method.(done 100s of gutter cleans over the last 20 years)

Standoff is imperative gutter cleaning.

I have never had a ladder stand-off and have done dozens of gutter cleans without a problem. I have already said that a stand-off is a very good idea, and I appreciate that it would make life easier and safer, but I have got by without one up to now.

get a gutter cleaning attatchment ,try looking on window cleaning warehouse or soap national lots of places sell em they fit on unger and harris threads,and they willfit in smaller gaps than the drain rod type drop scraper,use with a 2m pole and they are very quick,you can also use it with a 14 ft harris but its a bit of a handful

No need to complicate it.

as above ladder,standoff wouldnt do gutters without one as it means your leaning backwards when emptying gutter they are only £25 on ebay after all,then a scoop and hand brush,bucket, i use 2 tesco type bags one inside the other and find it easier to take that up the ladder and fill that then just empty into bucket
