Vyair 5L Pump
« on: June 13, 2011, 07:37:53 pm »
Is anyone running a Vyair 5L pump with a digital "varistream" controller and 100m of 6mm microbore?

I originally purchased a Vyair 7L to replace a broken sureflo, couldn't get it to work so they replaced it with a 5L pump.  I have tried all the different settings on the varistream but cannot get it to work, pump cycles and produces very little water at brush.  Vyair are suggesting it is a problem with my varistream, but I don't think it is, I have two varistreams purchased in Oct 10 and they both work perfectly with my other sureflo pump.  Vyair pump works fine when wired directly to battery, but uses too much water.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Hi Neil

What does the display say on your controller, is it detecting the pressure switch and/or dead end - have you calibrated the controller to your pump & hose?

Controller flashes P.

How do I calibrate? with the sureflow I just plugged it in and altered the dead end to suit.

I had a similar problem some years back.

I was using a 45 psi pump and it turned out the load of that size pump  wasn't enough to to work correctly with the Varistream controller.  I changed to a 100 psi pump which I'd planned to do at a later stage anyway and everything worked perfectly.

Doesn't sound like a varistream to me. What model is it?

Hi Neil

I recently installed a 12lt per min vyair pump loads of power which is cool for conservatory cleaning.

But could not the thing to work exactly as you discribed, you need to change the fuse from a 7.5 to a 10 fuse sloved all the prolems discribed working great now.

Still have a little problem with the pump turning off when working at half power still ticks over slightly though.

Hope this helps

This may help

if the pump is cycling but at full speed then the pump is hitting the pressure switch.

If the unit still has variable control (you can turn the pump rate up and down with the Varistream) then try turning the flowrate on the Varistream down. If the cycling stops then the dead end detection is incorrectly set and needs to be adjusted.

If the cycling does not stop even when the flowrate is turned down low, then it sounds like there may be a problem with the Varistream.

In general the Varistream is designed to work with 5l/min pumps. The dead end detection is simplistic and has very little adjustment when driving a pump outside of this range
