trolley as mount
« on: June 08, 2011, 08:56:52 am »
Hi  all,

I have freedom trolley and been wfp 5years.

Want to make life easier and leave trolley on board my ford escort van when possible.

What reel and hose would you guys reccomend?

these one's from gardiners:

http://www.gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/acatalog/Premium_Metal_Reels.html

and their 6mm micro bore hose say 100 metres?

Also was thinking of using micro bore as pole tube as couple of guys on here do: i.e collapse my 22 ft clx, cut off tubing so just a few inches protuds with male fittting on; connect micro-bore with female fitting and as pole extends micro bore goes up inside pole.

Also thinking off getting aqua-adapter.

Anything else i need?  : safety warning cone, thought big car mat t throw over hose if on pavement?

thanks lee.
Ps: i know i use 25ltr barrels so bit of a pain there, but sometime in the future if i move house i can have my set up at home and not at my parents; and will go for a newer van and a tank,400 ltr :)

Hi Lee,

Just thought I'd let you know in case you don't already, if you do get an Aqua-dapter, we supply it with 10m of hose as the hose is important for correct performance.

I used to run a pure freedom trolley from an escort van, i had 1/2 inch hose ( 50 metres) and then changed to 8mm (100 metres) with no problems.I used to have it connected to 2 X 25litre containers to make it last longer, the only problem i had was i burnt the clutch out as i was always over loaded!

The good thing about these trollys is that you can connect it to any tank, i had mine connected to 500 litre tank in my Movano until i brought a seperate pump and controller.

Beware!.....

6mm hose and the surflow 100psi from Pure Feedom will not go too well..........

This is because the pump Pure Freedom sell is a 5.2 ltr/min and will push a little too much water down a narrower hose hence it pops the presure switch.

so....use 8mm hose for the Pure Freedom Trolley

Richard, how did you hook up or two barrels, is it one of those triangle shaped gizmos?
has three spouts, best way i can describe it ;D

Sorry to hear about the escort van, mine is the 75 diesel, higher payload, think its around 625-650 kg

I carry 10x25 kg barrels.
so not too bad.

thanks for all your input guys.
Lee.

i bought a 350L TANK and 100m microbore hose and lightweight hose reel from gardiners and just drop my two pipes from trolley into tank.

in hindsight i should of done this months ago.so much easier.ive also dumped a couple of jobs where its too awkward for the van mount.

my own bloody mindedness stopped me from going van mount and thought it would be too much hassle fitting tank but i found it very easy really!just a pain screwing the elbow in the bottom of tank but i managed it ok! ;) ;D ;D

only fitted it on monday.looking forward to getting round all my work with it.no lugging barrels etc, etc.

ill never use the trolley again.van mount every time from now on.

lee i have aqua-daptors on both my poles(22ft CLX/25FT SLX).once you get used to the extra weight on the end of the pole you wont want to not use one.their pole hose is fantastic as is their customer service.

i know their pricey but well worth it after initially not liking them.i tried a pole tap again on my SLX and it was awful compared to having the aqua-dapter fitted.so  i ordered another one.

i have the best kit IMO for a sole trader mainly domestic/small commercial window cleaner.supalite brushes and extreme brushes also help with reducing strain during your working day.

my advice is get a tank and give the barrels away! ;D ;D ;D

thanks Daz,

I remember you were quite sure trolley was the only way.

Not taking the mick as i've been doing the same for 5 yrs; i just turned 40 last month and it's a wake up call :o

want to have less aches and pains, have a better business to earn more.

Basically go down the road you are.
 and
I would fit a tank but i have a couple of problems; my ro-setup is at my parents and they do not have of street parking.

Also my van is 9 yrs old and been a bit problematic last yr, so don't want to invest time and money fitting tank; when want done will probably get someone like adepta (pure freedom) to do it to my next
van which i'm thinking about fiat doblo 1.3 multi-jet or ford transit connect.

Not gone for van yet as looking to move this yr and don't want any loans at mo that might affect my borrowing power for next house.

Catch 22  ;D

thanks for your advice on poles and aqua-adapter, sounds a must when working with van mount,
heard some say it's heavy on clx but was thinking of not extending thinest top section on my clx 22 unless needed (not often) this would help the pole to be more rigid with adptr on.

I think i read you are saving an hour a day with van mount  that's great; i'l bet you'll still improve on that in the next few cleans as you get more use to new method.

Oh just a quick thought what is the best way to getting better work? knocking/leafletting or leaflet then knock?

Thanks again for your posts; i always enjoy reading what you say  :)

sorry to read about your partner; i hope things get alot better soon
