I posted this on another forum a few days ago. It might help a bit:

Just had a renewal quote for my Transit Jumbo from my insurance agent (Budget) of £511 underwritten by Aviva.

That's an increase of £131 from last year so I thought I'd have a look online and see if I could get a better deal.

Bl**dy hell, I got quotes ranging from £426 to £1400. Where the f do they get £1400 from!

The best quotes where via themoneysupermarket.com and include the £426 underwritten by Aviva.
Aviva offered the best quote on the other search engines but at vastly differing costs.

Anyway, one of the reps phoned me while I was still searching for the best deal to see if he could better the online quote (his company was not the cheapest quote).

He asked me if I wanted to include another driver on the policy. When I said no he told me that some insurance companies offer a discount for a second driver and that I should consider adding my wife to the policy. She only has a automatic license so would be no good.

I didn't really believe him anyway but agreed to get hold of a mates details and phone him back.

He said that as long as my mate has had a license for 9+ years, has no convictions or accidents/claims in the last 5 years he would do.

Well, when I called him back with the details it took the premium from £461 to £410. I told him I would think about it and get back to him again.

Went back onto moneysupermarket and added my mate to the policy they offered me for £426. That took it down to £367. I was, to say the least, surprised! I always thought that adding someone to a policy upped the price. Appears I was wrong.

So, it may be worth some you trying it out You might save a few £££££'s.

I have just renewed with a plan at a cost of £1200 for a trafic on contract hire :o, the insurers said that they up the premium on contract hire as they are a higher risk :-\

wont be getting another contract van until i have fleet insurance

the transit was less at £750 but would have been cheaper if the guy i added as an additional driver didnt have so many point and crashes

renault master 3.0 was about the same @ £700
