paying staff petrol
« on: March 21, 2011, 10:30:50 pm »
just wondering what the normal amount is for this and what systems people use to get some ideas. i assume employee's fill out a mileage log and then submit that end of month and then you pay whatever the normal rate is per mileage with their normal pay?

ah i see. thanks for the tip. i remember watching a program like watchdog a few years ago which had tips for finding cheapest petrol and noticed the difference from even just across the street. go 1 minute further into town and there is the total garage which is crazy high almost 10p more sometimes. i usually go for esso on hogs back or in slyfield as they have pay at pump and always have lowest/nearly lowest prices.

you mean the font that has changed on our site from the one on this site as my avatar? if so i changed it as it didn't look as good printed as it did on a pc screen, plus on it's own without the logo it looked even more naff. the latest one looks great on both imo and works much better with the logo and without so like on our main site there is no logo but on http://www.cleansurrey.co.uk there is

if this isn't what you're talking about i honestly haven't got a clue what you mean. tried googling GBS but no wiser.

good to see this thread stayed on track for long  :P

this will help you... http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/ebu/p11dws6.pdf
some companies only refund fuel costs on vat fuel reciept handed in then claim it back themselv's
some pay fuel and milage allowance 10p - 40p per mile
staff can claim mileage back each year themselv's depending on transport used whether employed or self employed ( using own transport)
or get a fuel card for business use from your local garage for that van.

Not sure if you mean staff use their own vehicles

If they do they need business insurance not personal use and you need to document and record their insurance details their licence details the tax on the vehicle the mot situation and record servicing

It's a minefield trying to "get away" with things

If staff need a vehicle buy them a van

If it is a sunny you still need to maintain up to date records of his/her van mo longer is it "up to them"
