Has anyone had an dealings with Glynn at Omnipole??
I had been thinking of getting a quote for a complete system...
Although he sometimes expressed himself clumsily on here, I was doing business with Omnipole before I ever noticed him on here.
Face to face I've found Glynn to be an OK guy.
As far as the equipment goes, I have one of their tanks in the back of my van and I'm fine with it. What I like is that it's easier to tinker with their systems than it is with some companies' so, once you know your way around it, you can do the odd repair yourself. I feel that some other companies over complicate it. Omnipole tend to have their van systems set up without a varistream type fitting - instead having a tap that allows excess water to return to tank. It's less that can go wrong but can mean that the leisure battery gets more use - depending how you set things up. I also like the fact that the pipe that feeds the pump goes in via the top of the tank and the end is weighed down into the bottom of the tank. This means that in winter you can just pull the feed pipe out, switch the pump on, and the pipework is mostly drained. There may be some water left in the pump but at least there's not loads in there that could crack it if it freezes.
None of these are major things in themself I suppose but if these things have been done intentionally, they have been well thought out IMO. Being able to access things to sort out any issues does mean that their systems don't look as whiz bang as those of some companies but personally, I'm more concerned with what it does and how easy it is to self maintain than what it looks like.
Also, I have found the after sales to be good. Sometimes I have needed unorthodox solutions and have not been able to think of one myself. There's usually a way around it though. Occasionally things have gone wrong. More often than not, I have been able to get it fixed the same day. This isn't so necessary now though because I have learned to self maintain for the most part.
It depends what you want I suppose.
The only real negative I can think of is their ali poles. Some people get on fine with them and when I first bought them, there was less choice out there. I found that after a year or so, my arm joints started to react to the constant weight of them. I was OK again once I got lighter poles.
Not everyone will agree with what I have written so don't totally rely on it.
It's just been my personal experience.
