Connie roof clear glass question
« on: January 29, 2011, 11:58:02 am »
I cleaned a connie roof yesterday, one with clear glass, charged £40 inc emtpying gutters, it was a pain cos every little mark or fleck of dirt is visible from inside, anyway I did a good job but there was a few tiny bits apparently cos the customer (new regular £30 job) called today complaining that there are still marks and he's not going to pay.

How do you guys get to high stains near the ridge? I've got an Unger scraper on a pole which I used but there was I think some cement stuck on and a mark which I scrubbed and scraped for ages but it just would not shift. I cant put a ridge ladder on even if i had one cos of the plastic decoration finial etc.

Are there types of glass does anyone know that can be damaged by scraping cos it looked like there was possibly a film where the mark was and i didnt want to do any damage?

Anyway i said I would go back to do my best to get them off, I ve ordered new scraper blades to make sure theyre sharp as hell.

I'm wondering about taking on any more clear glass roofs in the future cos this job took ages for the money and I've still got hassle!

as far as i know, these clear glass roofs are self cleaning glass  ;D  ;D and you shouldnt use a scraper on them as it will scratch the coating.
if its cement on the roof, explain to the customer, about using a scraper

I got one conny roof like that custy has it done every 4 weeks not self cleaning worst part is after a good rinse and moved onto next panel bits of muck appear think from under top ridge and wash down . If your brush wont fit under ridge then wouldnt bother with it I wouldnt use a scraper on long pole .
Do not steal the government hates competition

I had similar problems with glass roofs, they are a pain in the glass.plastic ones are easy money.best to clean each pain then rinse them all at the very end

I have a very philosophical view of unhappy customers. I have been in this business long enough to know that I do a good job. I also know that there are some customers that will never be satisfied.

When I get one I just say goodbye and walk away. Let the next window cleaner worry about them because I won't. Some just want to play games with you and have you dancing on the end of a line to fuel their own feelings of self importance.

Yes it hurts to take a hit for £40 but really its only cost you an hour out of you life. Put it down to experience and the rest of your life starts here.
