Canvassing / Door knocking
« on: January 21, 2011, 09:08:22 am »
I intend going door knocking tomorrow (Saturday) first time on a weekend for me, fed up dropping leaflets and knocking during week to find no one home or little response, everyone says weekends so off I jolly well am. I intend to start about 10:30 and for how long I don't know. Should I walk around with a clip board to keep track of where I've been etc, also ay idea of what I should wear, it only takes 1/4 sec for someone to look at you and make there mind up weather they like you or not and first impression is your biggest chance, I'm not saying to wear a suit but equally I don't wait to appear on someone's door step looking like a scruff bag. Currently getting some polo shirts with "Window Cleaner" logo on which I'm sure stand me a better chance. Any advise of these questions anyone ???

the shirts are a good idea , just dont over do it mate, i go out with a clip board
yes make notes on streets , write

143 johns street dirty (customer shouting abuse)=never return
145 johns street clean (customer has a window cleaner)=try in 6 months
147 johns street dirty (customer says he does them himself)=try in 6 months
149 johns street dirty (customer is interested must talk to husband)=call tomorrow
151 johns street dirty (confirmed GO Ahead) £15 every 2 months

And So on :)

Otherwise you will not remember where and what you been doing!

hey lee

re your question...

I have always found that wearing some kind of logo on a shirt helps provide a good visual impression
and this is important at first contact.  I always wear my belt and belt bucket (although i am now 90% wfp) as this shows that i am not trying to sell them something (other than the service of course) and can break the ice.  Canvassing and speaking to people direct is the best way to get business bar none as you can build rapport with customers that way....

Happy canvassing.........
