There are 4 openings on a champ housing.

2 on each black end.
1 on the side of each black end and 1 on the cap of each black end.

On the membrane, one end has a white rubber ring.  This end is the feed end.  (water enters the membrane on this end)
The opposite end of the membrane is the waste and the product end.

Slide the membrane into the champ(waste and product end first).

Put the caps on each end.  Plug the center opening on the feed end of the champ.  Water enters your champ housing from the side opening of this end.  The other end on center is the product water and on the side is the waste water.

So, to simplify this...

White ring end has the center opening plugged and the side opening is the inlet.
Opposite end the center opening is the product(pure water) and the side opening is the waste.
