WFP and neighbours talking to one another
« on: January 18, 2011, 07:39:08 pm »
Converted a compact round of mine over to WFP in November ... they been trad with me for 6 months and 3 years with the bloke b4 me .... converted them all over with no hassle just took ages telling them all about it.

I still cash collect on this round cos I prefer to and when collecting in November one of them said would I mind squeeging the ground floor windows next clean ... no problem said I .... fast foward to January (no December clean due to -10) and today the 2 either side both asked me to "chamois them off" one even said to cancel her for good if I wouldnt  :o ... bit me tounge and smiled and said not a problem ... anyways without the required rinsing actually took no longer as quick wipe with pole then quick squeege  :) ... see they do talk about us  ;D

I would have said , cancel me for good !

Explaining that this is the way i do them now,  its the way forward , whilst going into boring things about how it dries clear etc etc.

I certainly aint spending all this money on a system, and all my time explaining the changeover....

to still use a squeegie on a window or two per house.

sorry but this is as i see it , i train my customers up,... they dont train me.

I would have been three customers light by now then.
All they need concern themselves with are the results.
How I achieve those results is my affair.

But I suppose the question would then be - what sort of customers?
Surely they can get their heads around the fact that as it works for the tops it will also work for the lower windows?
Quite simply, they would be customers that I wouldn't want to keep anyway.  You would be welcome to them.  However, it looks like we are hundreds of miles apart  ;D .
Don't misunderstand me please.  In a danger of freeze up I will sometimes do a few ground floor windows the traditional way.  I will even accept the odd "not today thanks" if they are concerned about freeze up on the ground (one of the few times I will go along with it), but I will not have the customer deciding my work method.  I'm sure many of them would still have me going ladders if they were given the chance.  I can even accept that, under certain conditions, it would be possible to make money from a dial-a-clean type service, so long as a top premium rate were charged and it was only a minority proportion of the customer base that wanted this.

I hear quite often that people have been talking about me on the school playground and the oldladys discussing about when im due next. They like to tell me when i see them. Allways nice to know its good though !

I may trad the odd window, but that is through my own desicion and not the customers. The more you do, the more they want
Only those who risk going too far will truly know how far they can actually go

We've been WFP 6 years now and we had similar problems for about 3 of those.

We now no longer squeegee ANY out side windows.

We pratted about with the occasional old folks bungalow who resisted the change, squeegeeing them or drying off the WFP. But we stopped that now, Waste of time, effort and resources.

If I get a complaint nowadays it normally goes:

Cust: "1 of my windows was missed"

Me: "Oh sorry, is it dirty?"

Cust: "No but it's not wet"

;)

Hi James .... just to confuse everybody  ;D ... even though I squeeged 3 customers windows yesterday I wont be doing anymore .... dont want the rot setting in as they all talk (getting paranoid in my old age) ... like to keep it simples ... wfp or nowt however still do bungalows trad as it suits me to do them that way ... made the decision this morning on way to round otherwise they will all want me to squeegee the ground floor windows and thats not the best way to clean windows IMHO .... one asked me today and said no sorry not the correct way to do it explained pure water all over again and I think it sank in this time.

going to lock this thread as james has relaunched an old one
