if its more than one to one an a half days a week i would be a little wary, as after you pay him your only getting 170ish per week

take it easy £55-£60 a week works out to over %20 on the 6 weekly value you will be seeing about .77p of every pound before your day to day expensis dont forget money owed.

Im not sayin you shouldnt go for it ask a few more questions Ie. cancelations what deal do you have with those
if a customer cancels will he require 4-5 cleans on top of your rent? if thats the case then if you were to pick up work he should give you a credit of 4-5 cleans.

Personally i wouldnt rent a round for more then 10% maybe %15 of its clean value

Thing is!

Chap has moved out of the area but still doing the work unto he gets more work to where he has moved!

I trust the guy (so no problems there) its one contact he has done for years (housing association)

his van cambelt went over xmas and cant get down to do the work or cost to fix!

Would buying the work and give him a wage (£7 a hour) be a good move! as I have a 2nd van he can use!

you cant normally sub out / rent housing association work, although it probably does happen, if they found out then the job/s could be lost, might be worth talking to customers with him to check

How many customers are there? How long have you known the seller to be able to really trust him? If he is genuine, could he work along with you or formally introduce you to the customers?

Just a few pertinent questions you do well to ask. If anything sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

The figures you have quoted sound reasonable to me, that is about the going rate for renting work.  The fact that his cam belt has gone has little to do with it, he could get another van up and running in a short time.  Unless you feel that when he is back on the road he's going to drop you like a stone I'd say it's worth going for if it's good work.

to be honest, he might just find it better to rent teh work out than try and do it him self, if the distance is a problem

If the figures way up and the work fits in with the rest of your round I would go for it.

Why not offer him a percentage for all work done, so you dont get caught out by cancellations & siberian weather.
