4040 tds before and after ?
« on: December 30, 2010, 08:02:32 pm »
Had my 4040 a few weeks but cos of freezing temps and booster pump setting up only just today got it all set up and working.

Does this sound about right for the TDS ??

tap tds = 255 and after 4040ro before di vessel its 17 - 19 tds ??

flushed it for a good 2 hours.

no need to flush for hours 5 mins max,
my tds before ro is 280 after its 6/4 after di 000.
booster pumps can wear out ro quicker so becareful.

Ian, the important thing to know is what pressure is your booster pump giving you? I see the link you put up for that booster pump and to be honest its not one i'd of looked at. I was concerned by its kick in pressure and the fact you can't adjust it. In general terms thats the sort of TDS i would expect from low pressure of 50 psi or lower. If the pressure is as high as 80PSI or more then i'd expect that your output TDS is a little high.

Thats not correct. What is correct is that RO membranes need high pressure to perform correctly.

Around 200 in.  015 out once it settles down.  90 litres an hour of pure.  Not the greatest of performances but it is an HF5 at 50 PSI. I won't use a booster pump because I was let down by a solenoid/pump system before and got flooded.  Instead I use mains pressure only and rely on a ballcock.

175 in, 002 out.  That's with a new HF5 membrane from GAPSWATER, producing about 88 ltr/hr

Hi Mike ... psi goes up to about 90 then slowly drops to 50psi before pump senses the drop and kicks back in so yup possibly not the best pump to have bought but can now do 1000 litres in 20 hours where before it was taking 4 days  :o ... will have to do for now as not buying another pump  ::) (skint) .... Andy -S- suggested removing the pressure sensor so when I outgrow the production will take a look at doing that

not daft ... actually spot on ... the mains was down low as the tap I recently had fitted in the garage ruptured at a joint due to ice (minus 15 near me at one point !) so had to turn mains off for plumber to sort. Turns out he hadnt fully opened the stop cock so water production may get better from today  ;)

Yeah thats not good mate. I think the literature for the membranes states max pressure drop of about 1 bar (15 PSI roughly), it should be constant really Good luck.
