Freeze
« on: December 13, 2010, 06:48:42 pm »
I know the talk is about freezing from Thursday night on, but I just saw that it could freeze tonight as well, thawing for Tuesday and Wednesday leading up to The Big One.

This has all started 3 weeks earlier than last winter. Minus 6 here, minus 2 in the daytime. Just got a lot of snow this evening. Lots of screenwash and trad pole for us.

Anyone know when water actually starts to freeze?  I don't think that's a silly question.  If 0 is freezing, the water doesn't suddenly jump from being water to ice, does it?  There must be a point where the water ceases to be water, as such?

Anyone know?

Right now here it is +2.5; I just wonder when it will turn and become 'thicker'.

That's because the ground is still frozen mate. If it rained it would freeze in seconds. Happens alot here. Not so often in UK though I believe.

It has been raining on and off today .................... but it didn't freeze, it only started to freeze when it got dark.  ;)
