Is my leisure battery a dud?
« on: December 08, 2010, 06:51:55 pm »
bought a new leisure battery to power my new propex heater. I spent the day insulating the roof of the van (inbetween going to kids school play). hooked up leisure battery and................nothing  >:( It never even lit light up on thermostat. should a new leisure battery come fully charged? Its on slow charge now, But could be up to 2 days to charge (dunno if thats an exageration from my mate). So bloody van still frozen and no way of defrosing it............pants  :'(

Surely you can take a feed from your van battery to get the thing going.

Propex heaters draw about 2 amps so leisure or van battery should have been more than capable of running it. I would think you have a problem with the Propex or a wiring fault.

no, It was too late to go anywhere. Put battery on charge, said it was fully charged 10 mins ago, went to the van with it...........nothing.......ziltch. should at least power lights up on switch, even dead van battery did that.
Must be a dud battery.
