Red Dye Stain
« on: November 26, 2010, 10:41:29 am »
Hi

Just watched this video from masterblend

http://www.masterblend.net/index.php?option=com_expose&Itemid=93

Its the red dye removing one

He is using a steam machine instead of Iron and Damp Cloth. (Crane Steamer I think he said, I cant find on Web)

Does anyone know or use a similar machine available over this direction.

Thanks

John

Hi John,

Yes Aaron is removing red dye bleed to reveal original colour ivory.

Iron and damp cloth works well, he just preferres a steam iron or jiffy steamer.

Any old iron will do for this process.

Thanks for this,

I seem to be coming up against ChemDry a lot with Red Dye removal and their successes with it, do they have a Magic Potion for removing them ?

We all should be seeing a lot more red dye stains from now until January.

Houses full of people consuming foods and  drinks containing red colours.

Dont know about chemdry, maybe Jason L can answer that one.

New to the forum, set up independentley having spent to long with ChemDry and can advise that ChemDry use there own product callled RED ALERT!

All solutions used by ChemDry are made by Harris Research soley for ChemDry.

Hope this answers the question.

Any sort of heat/steam accelerates the chemical reaction, best and cheapest is a small hand held wallpaper stripper/ steamer

dave.
he is mixing it with the upholstery prespray because it has ammonia in it which act as an accelerator, you might as well just use ammonia.

I would not use a steamer like he is using as it has a surface area of about 3 inches x 8 inches I would use an iron were you can use the tip as a more precise way of applying heat.

the funny thing about this video is he is making the most basic mistake in stain removal, near the end he says

"there is transfer of the stain onto the towel were we have not applied the product"

why is he using a bleaching stain removal technique when a less aggressive procedure will remove the stain, of course he is just making a video to show a product but they sould have eddited out that comment
