Snow on van roof.
« on: December 02, 2010, 05:08:31 pm »
As I was walking to town a customer told me that the police had been stopping 'white vans' with snow on their roofs. 3 points and £60 fine.

He was just brushing his off.

Not sure but is it not incase you brake and it comes down and obscures your vision on the front windscreen ? and then that'll be you driving without due care and attention ???

Or if you accelerate too fast the snow comes off and goes in the windscreen of the car behind you, causing them to crash, so you are then guilty of causing death by reckless driving.

there is a post about this off someone on face book. I think its to do with the danger to other road users and pedestrians if the snow hits them, Especially if its frozen. Apparently someone was killed by a frozen lump of snow hitting them like this  :o

On the first day of the snow was watching the news reports and an AA man was being interviewed and he said the police could pull and do you for not clearing your vehicles roof, bonnet and boot of snow before driving off - suppose they are always gonna stop white vans or business vans rather than peoples cars

Did see a car today which had stopped at traffic lights and all the snow fell off the roof blocking the windscreen
