Volkswagen 4 motion Transporter
« on: December 01, 2010, 07:13:23 pm »
Does any one have one?

Went to a job today and there was no way I could drive up the yard as it is very steep and was a sheet of ice.

This guy turns up to shoe some horse in a Volkswagen 4 motion drove straight up the yard turned around not even a little spin, absolutely  incredible.

Not got one, but know the VW market a bit, and they are rare as hens teeth.

If there are any used, they will likely be a reasonable price, as the 4wd set up need servicing, and people are wary of them, so they tend to be decent value. There are a few T4 syncro's out there too.

In the 2-3 weeks of ice/snow we get a year, they would be great, however, you lose out on fuel consumption the rest of the time, so I guess it depends on where you are in the country, as to if you can justify it.

Would love to have a 4 motion Transporter, but so expensive.  :-[

Was pulled up by a 4x4 today, got stuck at bottom of a very slight hill, thought it would be okay, but no way, couldn't even get 20 yards up the hill. Nice customer. Called it a day, got £67 in. Tomorrow ice cold the whole day. Staying in I think.

Hi Tim

I have sent for a brochure from local vw garage.

Been out all week with about 2 inches of snow, but had a good week pay wise. But some times have used the ladders and it comes hard. ;D

Thanks for the input.

Do want.  :D

Good vids on youtube.

Quite a few on eBay. But you are going to need some good finance on that....seriously thinking about 4wd for my next van purchase, they are just brilliant. That, and a hot system.

Then again, the old Berlingo is still doing fine. Not bad for a 1997 van....

I think the payload is a bit low on them.  Try looking at a transit swb awd.  That would have similar grip and a better payload.
