do people require deposit for eot cleans?
« on: November 01, 2010, 12:06:52 am »
just wondered if people did this and if so how? i've often thought about taking a minimum deposit of say £50 through something like paypal however i am unsure if it'd put people off, or maybe even put them more towards us as it comes across as a bit more professional.

also would be good as although rare we do get people who cancel a day or so before and say they'll come back so would at least help give them a reason to come back or at least not cancel leaving us with nothing that day.

Hi Surrey,

We only do commercial EOT's and not for the actual tenant. We have if it is a large clean like an entire 5 bed house have taken a deposit if we do not know the client.

We have never had a cancellation except for a re-schedule.

You would need to make it easy for people to pay a deposit like paypal or have a credit card machine otherwise this will be inconvenient for both parties.

Hi

I have done mainly EOT's for 7 years and have never taken a deposit and as yet never been stiffed for payment.

My thoughts are that if you do ask for a deposit you may just lose the job anyway, cancelations are part of the business sadly. If I am doing it for a tenant i will say at the time that it is either payment before I start or on completion.

I, personally, don't like to complicate things as you can add to the stress of the customer already has with moving home...

Keep it simple, keep it friendly and keep it professional :)
