How many safety conscious window cleaners promoting safe methods, SMOKE?

Read the warnings on the packets lately? 
Seen the pathetic state of those meeting a slow painful end in the Royal Free, or St Thomas' hospitals in London?

Smoking ain't banned yet, so why ladders, which if used safely do no harm to anyone?

Forget the tax "herring".
I am not anti wfp or trad.  I am heading the wfp way myself.  But I am certain already that it will not replace my trad method.  It will enhance it at the very least, and hopefully make me a wad before my next heart attack.
I just think some jolly nice chappies on here push the 'safety' feature of wfp, over trad methods too much.  Stop it now.  We are in this together.  There are advantages in both methods.
And stop smoking.  In Nazi Germany millions were forced to an early grave by being gassed.  You guys are choosing to do the same thing.  Only difference is your choice is slower and more painful.

How many window cleaners who promote safety drive cars?

How many people die on our road every year?

Also obesity?

Or when we watch the Olympics do we think just how many partakers of ameteur sport die each year?

Alcohol?

Lack of excercise?

Pollution? Ashtma,  all all those chest problems....

The list goes on and on.

Before anyone asks, yes I do smoke and I wish all those years ago I'd never started and if giving up was that easy I'd have succeeded years ago.

I gave up smoking several years ago the main reason MONEY
not the price as the amount I was buying.

First the missus would help her self, Then as the kids grew up they started to smoke and they would help them selfs.I was buying 60 to 80 a day so I decided to make every onre buy thier own and packed up, This also led to me cutting down on my drinking as the two went together.

The point I,m making is that if it was not for the kids starting to smoke I may well still be smoking, problem now is they still smoke.

So I'd like to thank the kids for helping me pack the weeds in, thus giving me a healthier life, that along with window cleaning I think I've got it sorted

I think you're asking the wider question about living in a 'Nanny State'.  One which tells you what you can do; or what you can't.

There is a train of thought which says that you can do what-ever you want to do, regardless of the consequences, as long as you understand what those consequences are, whilst not infringing on anyone elses 'rights'.

I quite like that 'train of thought'.

William is also right about the governments view of the tax revenue they receive from smokers.  Smoking kills more people than illegal drugs.

The thing is most tobacco companies are american  and british owned and are easily taxable.

and most of the illicit drugs all come from the developing world .

just think of all that revenue going to columbia ,morrocco ,afghanistan ,etc instead of going to the states and the uk.

it is almost identical with alchohol .  2 of the most powerful addictive drugs in the world.

Smokers pay more tax - oh yes.  You better believe they do.

BUT

They also cost the NHS more to look after em when they get sick.  AND on average they don't live as long, and so don't pay as much tax on their income over their lifetime.

I think we could harness "Smoker power"

How about this:
Turbines could be installed over smokers' beds so that when they wake up in the morning, the raw energy of that just-woke-up-coughing-thing that I've seen smokeys do could be put to good use.

It could save the need for so many power stations.

Maggie was also anti smoking untill after she was deposed.

Then she gave after dinner talks in the States sponsored by .... BAT.

The thing with smoking is wrapped up in history.

When I was young it was legal to advertise it and as a kid it was advertised for instance :- at Saturday morning kiddies cinema as the 'big' thing to do.

It's like many aspects of our society, the past is why they are here in the present.

One thing that is more carginogenic that tobacco? Benzine.....

It's a by product of the burning of petrol.
