Gutter Vac
« on: September 18, 2010, 12:37:55 pm »
For those of you that use Gutter Vacs:

1) Are they worth having or is it just as easy doing it the way I do it now, off the ladder?

2) Do they make just as much mess as when doing it by hand?

3) If you do recommend getting one, which one?

There seems to be a big price difference, I know you get what you pay for but when its just an add on to my
services do I really need the best of the best?

Your help would be greatly appreciated as I have had quite alot of enquiry's latley and I have a big three story job that needs doing asap and don't fancy going up the ladder for this, hence the post!

Thanks, Tony

Hi Tony,

had our Omnivac for just over a year and wouldn't do a gutter any other way.

there is no mess at all using the gutter vac as everything gets sucked up the tube ( except bricks ! )

it's a good add on service and with the heavy rain we've had business as been brisk.

It's used as an add on service rather than a major part on things but i'm sure if promoted more we would
pick up lots more commercial  work that would attract high prices.

Can't fault the gutter vac - but i think the eastern trading vacuum would give it a good run on performance at something like a third of the price - just invest in a good genni  -  we use a honda one - starts first time all the time.

the polar vac looks to be no more than a standard henry type hoover - ok for light work on dom's only.

Hi Darran,

Thanks for the reply and the information.

It was the eastern trading one I was looking at, so will look a bit further into it I think because as I said, I don't fancy cleaning out the gutters on a high 3 storey next week :-\

Regards,

Tony

Tony where are you based mate?
I operate in Leicester and Essex.
before paying out loads for the Omnivac why not have a look at the PolarVak.
Its what I use weekly, I have 2-3 gutter jobs each week, ranging from bungalows to 3 storey buildings and I have the PolaVak, very good bit of kit. I have NEVER had a problem with it.

Smudge don't get me started on eastern trading lol
I have a couple of window cleaning customers who have bought one, they rust after 12 months use. they clog up a lot more than the polarVak due to not having a cyclonic inlet.

I cannot comment on the omnivac as I have never seen one woking on a job.

Cheers Matt - I'm not knocking the Polar vac as i don't have one or use one but the power is some what down compared to the gutter vac,  we have lifted a complete house brick out of a 3 storey gutter, just wondering if
the polar would be able to do the same, as yet we have not found a gutter no matter how clogged that the gutter vac does not clear with ease.
the Eastern trading one looks the biz - but if it cloggs then thtas bad news.

I have lifted out tennis balls filled with water and huge peices of turf at 40ft with the PolarVak.

Smudger I hope you were wearing a hard hat when you lifted out the brick on the 3 storey mate.
