I think these pumps are for getting domestic water supplys to about 45psi. Not much good for the cost for running a 40-40 by the time youve gone thru the pre filters you may lose 10psi.

The 'transfer pump' you have is a high pressure pump (50 metres head). That will do as your booster pump. This pump will pull water out of your mains faster than your mains can supply it. Get yourself a small header tank, i know you said you can't get your head round it but its simple. Get yourself a 1000 ltr IBC (£15 second hand they are by me), direct your tap water into the IBC, when its just about full let your 'transfer pump' take water from the IBC and push it into your 40/40 RO system, leave the tap running and filling up the IBC so it doesn't go low on water. And thats it.....high pressure water going into your RO membanes, job done.

And, by the way, none of them pumps push out as much pressure as the one you have at home as a spare.

hi mike & mart ;)
been cut off ;Dso i couldnt post.........on daughters laptop ::)

thank you for that guy's.....
thats wot i needed it for mart bud ;)
must be better than the 8psi im runnning with now man ;)
thank you mate ;)

Mike......
Thats great bud......thank you mate.... ;)
now i know about a header tank man........but a,1000ltr tank, filled with tap water willl only make a fraction of pure water.....does that work okay, as with a low tap psi i can imagine the tank draining before you fill other ibc...it must do lot of guys use a header tank ;)
thank you mike for explaining that dude..... ;)
i havent got room for a header tank @ the minute,so ill just have to do without 1 for now,but i can boost my pressure up with that transfre pump...nice 1 bud ;)
Well ya made that a lot clearer for me mike.......thank you mate,i appreciate it fella ;)

Thank you again mate ;)

Take care guy's & kindest regards
Justin ;)

Good advice from Mikecam. Try your current pump but you will probably find your main supply will not keep up with the pump demand. But at least you will know for sure.

How much water do you need to produce in 24 hours? as a 300gpd unit becuase of it's slower production rate would possibly be more suited to your low flow rate. You would still need a booster pump but either you would get away without a header/break/resevoir tank or would need a smaller one than with the 4040.

Glad you seem to have it sorted!

If the pump was not getting enough water supply it would either cut in and out or just not work properly (and make some funny noises).

Best wishes, dd
