Does anyone have any experience in this and is it a viable and worthwhile service to offer. Is there a special kit to buy?

Don't  think it's seen as specialized at all these days.....  I do contract office cleaning and provide it as part of the core service.  All that's needed is some common sense.  Eg... Correct procedure for cleaning non-Glass TFT monitors, and not to use too much moisture when cleaning keyboards; ie... "Damp Dusting".

Damp wiping would not be used in our services

Air dust off, swabs, and the correct non static wipes, and we would remove the keys to clean under this stops keys sticking - and the amount of food ect ect you will find under some office computers you will think what a dirty bunch of office munchers!!!

You will find, food, skin, tissue fibres......  and the germs well!!! :-X

You can buy a good kit for computer /laptop cleaning
