WFP user says Trad is a Better Job?
« on: November 29, 2005, 09:58:17 pm »
I felt that to be called a window cleaner  you always had to clean all the frames and the cills till they were white
or as best you could .
I used to earn about £130-£150 a day cleaning all the frames and cills.
This was done over 15-20 houses a day.
i have used WFP for a short time now and i can't see that  WFP can be as good.
You can't get the upstairs cills to look as good as Trad cleaning
and unless you clean the frames with WFp every time, then the next time you clean the windows
with WFP having left a dirty frame the time before you will catch the dirt at the top of the frame and then you will leave marks on the window
as the dirt will leave streaks.  ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? ???
DOES ANY BODY FEEL THE SAME .
MUST SAY THAT I WILL BE STICKING TO WFP  AND HOPE THAT IT GETS BETTER.

After the first clean it takes seconds to clean the frames with WFP so it pay to clean it every time.
Otherwise i can see you will be getting problems with spots and runs.

Cills you can get with WFP no problem.
The only time it is difficult to get the cills is when there is not a lot of room and your really close to the wall.

Way around this when you have finished put an applicator on a normal extension pole and wipe with that.

WFP is just another tool and a really good one at that.
Most problems people come across are user error.
If your not getting good enough results is there someone who has used WFP near you for a while you could spend the day with.

I found this when I had to go back on the ladders for a few days recently.
I always cleaned the frames when I was traditional. The top frame above the vent was very grubby.
I followed advice on this forum to stay clear of the vents with WFP, but how do you clean the bit above the the vents without going up a ladder?
Not had any complaints yet though. Dai

Dai re: cleaning frames with vents.

I have been wfp for 3 weeks and i saw your post about staying away from the vents etc. i thought how could i do it without leaving a mess. Then i put the vikan brush parallel to the vent bristels below and above two or three passes back and forth and never had any problems yet with vents i wait for the water to stop dripping from the hood of the vent and away i go cleaning as normal. i always make sure the jet of water never goes up into the vent thats why i keep the brush parallel to the vent it does work honest ;)

always best to do a good job on the vents the first time. takes a wee while longer but in the long run you breeze through the day with cracking results and will take seconds to do next time. frames and cills need doing every time makes sure no dirt runs down your clean windows.

I think the best approach with vents is not to avoid them quite the opposite scrub like mad on the first clean then still give them a good clean on subsequent visits takes a bit longer but worth it for peace of mind.
