Interior walls
« on: July 28, 2010, 04:30:40 pm »
Hello, Has anybody got any tips for cleaning white interior walls? I clean a couple of stairwells and have noticed the walls getting black stuffs but cant seem to find anything to clean it off with.

Any suggestions? Everything i try just seems to smear the stain up the walls.

Thanks
Lewis

Thanks for the reply.  Most of the marks are indeed low down however so are upto head height too, any tips on how to remove these? Any chemicals that are effective without stripping the paint? like most i seem to try.

Thanks
Lewis

Hi lewis,
I heard before a very strange method, that I have never used but can be useful. Sprinkle the surface with a heavy application of talcum powder and when dry, remove with the vacuum cleaner using a brush attachment. I hope it will be useful.

Are they gloss?

We use to do walls and ceilings with a micro splitter called One-step (which seems to have disappeared).

This seems to be it's replacement... http://www.amtechuk.co.uk/shop/product-info.php?Acoustic_Metal_Ceiling_Wall_Cleaner__Microsplitter-pid211.html

The reason I have given you this link is that they used to send out free videos / DVDs of the process in action.

It might be worth giving them a call.

Hi,

thanks for the replies. Its not gloss no, its just matt white paint. I have emailed that company you suggested, will see what they say.

Cheers
