Hi all

I am considering getting a seempro or a ninja both of which come with "free" training. Of course more training, use and experience will always make you proficient and quicker. What i was wondering though, is for those who have been on the "free" courses and have the experience, is a free course enough to get you out there cleaning carpets on average domestic work fairly quickly and to a good standard?

Mine from Prochem was,first few jobs are always going to be a bit scary though,until you find out the best way to work etc.
Didn`t rate the food on the Prochem course though !

Get some practice in on your own carpets. Even when they clean, do them again, just to go thro the routine of setting up filling emptying etc.
Got any relatives nearby that you can discount for a practice?

you have a place near you called A & D supplies who sell prochem stuff and fix machines have used them before and our pretty good

I would do what joe said and even do any friends etc a free clean,it just helps to get your confidence up..

As Joe & Clinton say- offer friends and familly free or discounted cleans.

Also not only practice the cleans and process but also the manner which you will be with clients. Be a bit of fun treating a mate as a client, but dont under estimate it as good manners alone can (and do) win you the job (then it's up to you to do a good clean).

Regarding training, Prochem do good stater courses (there are a few places-see whats near you). Though as with a lot of things, confidence is the key also.

Get some off cuts or samples from a carpet shop and practice your stain removal on them-it all helps.

Dont forget - do them free once and they will want them free again!

Make some charge, even if its "half price", then they will expect to pay in the future.
Half price for relatives is still a good deal.
You can do the mother in law for free though, saves any hassle.

I have a "rider" for friends and relatives jobs. I do not take money .

For example  one person has to make me a baguette with cornish brie, white grapes, clover  and cress.
with a twirl and a wispa, washed down with elderflower cordial.

It varies by the person,  if they have money it may be a nice steak etc.

I hate doing mate rates.
Did one in the snow in January, not a big job
would normally have charged £65 so told him
£45 as they had just had an addition to the
family.
