silly question i know but

ive got a 10 inch canester for the salt but how do i set it up what does it go trough and where should it come out from basically my system is carbon then sediment in to 4040 then di bottle then tank so what do i do with this salt ???

Put it on your dinner ;D

The salt is supposed to soften the water and prolong the life of the membrane, but a decent softener will cost so it's debatable whether it's better just to use the RO and replace the membrane when it dies.

Salt-softener open to waste, once salt has all gone open the ro full to waste for about 10 mins then slowly turn tap making pure till ratio is about 50/50 and tds is down then connect to tank to fill.....
