I have done this on fire jobs very successfully, I cleaned a warehouse full of electric motors, pumps and the like. The oily black soot cleaned up well , and everything was like new.
BUT ,,,, The clue is in the name of the process ,,,,BLASTING! This is a noisy process, we had a large compressor which was bad enough with the noise of the engine, but the noise of the air and dry ice media coming out of the nozzle , you needed ear defenders to be withing 20 metres of the process.
Also the dry ice was delivered in a box on a pallet , it was only usable for up to about 30 hours so work had to be planned well and we had to hope deliveries were reliable to keep the process going.
With dry ice , compressor hire, dry ice gun, extra ppe , forklifts , barriers and time involved , it cost us over £150 an hour to run the job , but like I said , it is effective and you can get through a lot of cleaning in a day.
