Locked love thread - yet smoking thread OK?
« on: August 25, 2005, 05:59:01 pm »
I notice Tosh locked Graham Goulds "love" thread while allowing the "smoking" one - the reasoning being that the former had nothing to do with window cleaning and the latter did. (health issue having a bearing upon ability to work)

However the "love" thread asked whether anyone on the forum had fallen in love with any of their customers - which is relevant to window cleaning - certainly in the example below:-

This spring I picked up about a days work from a window cleaner who worked the same area as I do in a suburb of N.W. Bristol. The reason his customers came to me was that he had run off with the wife of one of his customers and left them all without a window cleaner.

So the link with window cleaning, albeit tenuous is there, just as much as smoking is, if not more so.

So.......what is your view? ??? Should the "love" thread be allowed?
It's a game of three halves!

why dont you start a poll ;D ;D
estimate so far 40% of people polling have stated they smoke .
and how many w/c ers are out there 50`000 ?
so that makes 20`000 smoking window cleaners .so it is something we have in common.
and if the post makes people think about there smoking habit.it may encourage them to think about giving up
you got it  LOVE

Poll done!

Or should I have run a poll as to whether I should run a poll or not?

 >:( Well, personally I think the smoking thread is relevant because if you're fitter, your body and mind are more efficient; therefore you work smarter and do more, therefore earning more money.

Taking care of your body is just as important as taking care of your 'hands', and taking care of your hands is a subject that will be covered in the next issue of PWC.  So, if for example, you've got lung cancer, you may find it difficult climbing ladders; no matter how good your hands are.

However, in my experience, 'love' or being in 'love' distracts you from work and another by-product is that it leaves you knackered; if you know what I mean ;).  So it's the complete opposite of not smoking!  So you become less focussed and efficient.

So, Graham, who often makes me laugh and I've got nothing against him (literally or metaphorically), was, well being Graham when he started that thread.

Therefore, unless you can better explain how and why being in love with a customer helps you to run a window cleaning business; then it'll remain locked.

To highlight my above point:

Perfectly Clean said in the Smoking Thread:
Quote
I really noticed the dif when I wasn't smoking, started running got up to 9 miles now I just get up the ladder.
Paul

Malc,

Try smoking 20 to 30 a day for a few years, then go back to ladder work, and you'll see there's a definate difference made to your income from when you didn't smoke to when you do smoke.

There is a definate link.  No doubt about it!

well    ;D

if you fell in love with one of your customers who was fit and liked "a bedroom workout" this might help you get fit

on another note

say you had a customer who liked "a bedroom workout" you might be inclined to work faster to get your work for the day done so you can "indulde yourself" before going home ;)

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Fair nuff.  Thread unlocked.  Funnily enough I've been called a 'soft touch' many times before.

Tosh, Ian Giles,

why is this still on?

Tosh...?? didn`t take much persuading there mate ???

as for the forum clown, has anybody yet to get a professional response to a question here off this person. Have a look at recent posts and it is full of skin crawling innuendos and snidey sarcasm.
