Alan
If it is any consolation I have had an absolute stinker as well!!
Got pulled by VOSA going from my house to Banbury, last Monday. I was towing the largest of my trailers, with my Movano van. Both are clean & tidy and all the couplings are in order, with good tyres all round and nothing to worry about - or so I thought.
On the M6 at junction 14 - Stafford, saw VOSA on both sides of the road, checked speed and went past, an old transit went past me, held together with Sellotape, looked in the mirrors and the lights had come on, they pulled in front of me and the follow me sign came on.
Cut a long story short I need to fit a tachograph. Gave me 7 days to deal with it or not use the trailers, so I get it booked in today and drop it off in Cannock - about an hour from me.
Phone me back and inform me that the electric wiring had been done but the tachograph unit had not arrived and was in Dundee!!!!!!. I hit the roof and inform them I will be taking legal advice if the van & tacho is not back with me by tomorrow, loss of earnings on new contract starting Sunday.
This is for the largest supermarket chain in the country!!!
They phone me back and tell me that the unit will be ready by lunchtime tomorrow but that I need a card reader. I can only get this by paper application and this can take up to two weeks to turn round. No extension to lifting the prohibition they have placed on my van trailer activities.
I am now driving van No 1 down to Aylesbury, after picking it up from the fitting centre tomorrow and then getting a train home and driving my second van down on Sunday. I need to take a lot of kit down!!
All this will be reversed next week when I come home!!!
Alan I have to believe that it will all make me and my business stronger and better, all I want to do is cry!!!!
Keep moving forward and build your empire!
Rob
