How to Win Lifetime Customers
« on: May 13, 2010, 05:14:13 pm »
I was asked if I could take on a job a few days ago,  as someone was not prepared to wait a few minutes while an elderly lady was too slow for him in getting to the door.

When contacted later by phone his reaction was................" I you're that bad you should have had someone in the house to help you " or words to that effect.

Turned out the lady was over 90 but still with good mobility albeit a little slow.
The job was £150
Excellent access right up to the door.

Must have plenty of work !!!!!

Very poor example, i love the old people they are very often so grateful and make the job rewarding, i had an old dear couple of months back who asked if i wanted a cup of coffee so i said, yes please, next thing i heard a crash of cutlery she had dropped my scalding hot coffee she explained that she had a disorder a bit like parkinsons, so i sat her down made her a cup of tea before i knew it we had been chatting for nearly 45 minutes she told me a horrific story about losing her son many years ago in a motorcycle accident he was just 17 she also told me about being a probation worker which sounded fascinating she had led a very interesting life and i enjoyed our chat, when i left she wrote to me saying how happy she was with the cleaning and thanking me for my kindness which was really nice, so the guy who could not be bothered i say shame on him, because many of these "old people" were young once and did things that we could not or would not want to do.
Rant over sorry guys but does get my back up, my mums 84 and still works in a travel agents full time, an amazing example to us all.

I must admit I agree with James elderly people are very friendly never complain and always very welcoming and generous. We always give them a discount and treat them with respect and in return we get lovely appreciative customers.

Once had a fascinating chat with an old dear, turned out
during the war she was an SOE operative. She parachuted
into france to get to Jersey and spy on the krauts there.

Another old bloke drove a tank transporter just after the war
during fuel rationing. Went to a garage at West Brom.
The owner said he could let them have 2 gallons to get to the
next garage. As he put it being a cockney jack the lad, he produced
his MOD chit and said sod that i'll fill me tanks.
Whereby the owner gave him a crank handle and said go on then
we've got a power cut, that's why i said 2 gallons.
Out of shear bloody mindeness, and so as not to look a fool, it took
him 4 hours of hard graft to fill them.

At the end of the day a Satisfied Customer is all that counts, They'll come back and so will their friends!!!
