Title: 0845 number charges
Post by: peter maybury on April 16, 2010, 01:29:45 pm
We have had an 0845 number for some years now and when we took it out we were told that after paying the initial fee there would not be any other costs. Obviously we have spent a lot of money promoting this number.
A couple of months ago we had notification that as there was a change in legislation there was now a monthly charge of £10 per month for the number. When we raised an objection we were told that the number would be taken off us.The number is with telecoms world plc.
I am very annoyed and cannot see that it is fair to just decide that we have to pay £10 per month all of a sudden, have any member had any experience similar to this or does anybody know where complaints can be made etc.

Most people prefer to call a local landline number anyway...Ive never understood the fascination with 0800 and 0845 numbers...with a landline you can track the person down easier.

Ive got a (01670) and (0191) number and use them both for different areas. Works a treat as well!

Like john i have always had landline numbers.

People then usually know its a local number and wil prefer that i m o :)

There again you would get more work pro rata than just a mobile number..

I use Smart Numbers for one of my numbers     www.smart-numbers.net

and Kalnet4u for two others          http://www.tamartelecom.co.uk

Kalnet works out cheaper on low volume calls

I have still not heard from offtell but have already been given the reduce rate of £5 per month instead of £10 per month from the service provider instead of the £10. But am stilll narked at having to pay for anything we were told would be free. Our provider is telecoms world.
They no longer charge a set up but there is the monthly number rental.
