Title: Promo spotters - which one!
Post by: Clean2Day on February 10, 2010, 12:41:49 pm
I'm thinking of stocking up on some promotional spotting bottles with logo, number etc on them to give to customers & don't want to be giving away something completely useless, so I was just wondering how you guys rate the different options available?

Any advice is appreciated!

Many thanks in advance.

I recently got some from restormate, competitive pricing and VERY good service, fast delivery.  No idea if it's any good, but that's not the point of it :D

not used anyone else for them so can't compare.

I think Derek West used to make his own with child labour ie the kids pouring and topping up.

Oh yeah I remember him saying about that!

I think he sourced his bottles on the net, got labels from printcarrier and then diluted microsplitter to make them up.  All for about £1.00 or so I think ???

(£1 per bottle that is!)

I'm pleased with the ones I got from Dry Fusion (cleaners warehouse) - though relatively expensive at about £2 per 250ml bottle.

Deliberately wanted a small bottle as don't want the customer to be protected from stains for too long  ;D

I like the fact also that the DF bottles are labelled as Woolsafe approved.

500 ml spray bottles, 40 p
labels 10p
microsplitter diluted 5 to 1 thats 30 litres or 60 bottles for about £20, can't be assed to do the maths.

child labour to put the labels on, priceless ;D

Derek how did you go on with the labels as I thought you said that the ink ran if you got solution on them?

Shop around within uk for bottles -  i got my black 300mls with yellow  triggers - special offer worked out at 27p each (on 500) Black and yellow just happen to be my company colours!!!   8)   citrus concentrate diluted 20:1 works out at £15 to fill em all - labels I did myself in MS Publisher using my colour laser so water proof - custys love em - have all my contact details on them with instructions for use and a line which suggests calling for free advice or free refill.

I only started doing them myself as bought some from a southern supplier and promplty lost the labels - they wouldnt just re supply labels so did my own and it went from there

Basically I am saving well over a pound per bottle and a wise man once said

"its easier to save a pound than it is to make one..."

Gave one to a passing stranger today who stopped for a chat whislt admiring me prowler - business card that they wont bin or lose in the drawer...

Sty
How you going to manage the refill thingy.
Say someone calls for a refill and they are 10 miles away - or is it only a refill when they have their carpets cleaned again.

Bloody weather! I'm still getting my days full but the beginning of the month was snowed out! just buying a 2nd dry cleaners when the solicitor gets his finger out.

Sounds like Altro floor what you've got there just about bullet proof can't go wrong, IMO make sure you give a good scrub and dwell.

Shaun

PS would you email me the supplier of the bottles? shaun_ashmore@lineone.net

was thinking of connecting the water solution to the rx with floor scrubber and the vac hose to the wand with a gay/girl glide for recovery. that way the solution gets a good scrub and dwell before it gets sucked back up. plus it will look like ive got a multi wand truckmount. ;D

you and bob have mail

I used to clean these floors way back when we had vax style carpet cleaners and it's more of a chemical clean and aggitation but I think you have all bases covered with that scenario ;D

Shaun

PS Thanks for the info and mum's the word ;) which mum I don't know but thanks.

You'll knacker the glide on an altro floor Derek, it'll be just like taking sandpaper to it....you really do need a proper hard floor wand for it.

cheers jim but its only one job, and ive got a spare girl glide if it focs up, if i like it and get a good result i'll invest in a floor wand or just use the rx to mop up aswell.

OK mate :)  Take before/after photos - of the glide!  I did about 35m of altro with mine and it ate half of the glide :o

Also, after using it on altro it'll have some of the little metal bits off the floor stuck in it... watch out if you then went and used it on a nice floor like amtico or something, cos it'll scratch the surface!  You can dig most of the bits out with a stanley blade though, and even finely sand the glide a bit to smooth it off.

okay jim i get it, i won't use the glide.
by the way, how long have you been president of the NSPCGG, THE NATIONAL SOCIETY OF THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO GIRL GLIDES. ;D

i'll just use the RX, promise.

been to look at it today, lots of spotty black dots with those alloy silver flakes in it, i'm guessing its the altro you guys were telling me about. she now wants the whole building doing, gonna be 3 to 4 nights work at £400 a night. that'll dink dank do for me.
cheers clinton, thats another pint i owe ya.

and before ya all say it, its my business, i'll charge what i like ;D

Your choice mate, just giving you the info to work with 8)

For that money it's well worth the spend on a hard floor wand, should be able to get one for a few hundred squids and it'll be a lot better anyway.  When you're doing that much work... blah blah I know you know :)

You know what you've given me an idea, I'll start a new organisation!  seams to be the in thing nowadays :D  NSPGG, got a good ring to it :P

well i for one think its a fantastic idea jim, assuming the initials NSPGG are for the prevention of any male using a glide, count me in. i'm guessing £200 joining fee plus £35 training course in how and why you should not use a glide.

personally i think they should be sold with a government gay warning and a free bra and knickers with every purchase.

the NSPGG
"where men have bad backs like there supposed to have"

right i'm off to abuse a glide

We now buy ours from Restormate, if you order 100 you get them for £1.89 a bottle and I think there is an offer on if you order 100+, they will also do a label with your logo on for free which makes it very personal and is free advertising.

Give Lynn a call as I know she loves the job of bottling them up and sticking labels on, so she will be only too pleased to take your order!
