Is anyone a member of CHAS?
Do you think its brought you more work from your portfolio of training?
CSCS, what type of card is required for window cleaning on construction sites?

Sorry but that is incorrect. Window cleaners need both "general construction operative" and "working at heights", if any type of access equipment is required, which usually is on builders cleans.

When i all came out I went to the mainconstructin companies that I sub from ( taylor woodrow, wimpey and crest ) and they all said the same, the one fr ceaner. If you ring up te enquiry number and ask them they will tell you that as a window cleaner there is no actual card for us and they actually told me that I didnt need one

Weve just finished a builders clean on burnley college using cherry pickers and ive done no working at heights training.

I have done many builders clean, i hold ipaf and employers/public liability etc but have not been asked for cscs card ever, if they ask questions i produce, risk, method, ipaf, insurance etc and no other questions are asked, as you say we are wc's not construction workers but no doubt they are required?

sorry guys, i'm not trying to be defensive or offend, but you are breaking cdm regs by not having a cscs operating at heights. however this only applies if you are doing work at ANY height above or below ground level "where there is a risk of injury or death from falling". this even applies if you just stand on a chock of wood to gain a stretch. i've done loads of work on balfour beatty sites and they won't even let you on site without one. you even have to have the ipaf harness license. the only reason i can see that you were allowed on site was either an over sight or incompetent manager. if you have an accident, just watch you insurance run a mile. it is impossible to satisfy a risk assessment to work at heights without having bog standard safety training. therefore should an accident occur, it will be you as the owner of the company in the dock, not the site manager.

Yeap mines says the same Window cleaner for some bizzare reason is not listed as a skill

OK, so im looking towards a builders cleaner?
Do you need ipaf harness license for ladder work? (stupid question but need to know facts).
A frame ladders not allowed on site?
on a side note, anyone here a member of CHAS?

no ipaf (or equiv) are only for mewp (mobile elevated work platform). ladders are allowed on some sites on others they aren't (it isn't uncommon to find a total ladder ban on sites these days). if they are then they will need to have a risk assessment and method statements. both available on here. don't go too fancy when writing them, no need to. also make sure ladders are in good nick or have inspection certs (pasma). be aware as well that ladder replacements (eg, hop ups, alloy towers) need to be erected / inspected every time before use / tagged by a pasma qualified person. but you don't need to be qualified (except cscs working at heights) to use them. another point, why go for a lower class cscs and possibly hamper yourself in the future. if you are going for cscs might as well get the proper working at heights, it only costs a bit more. it is a lot harder though.
