I am about to start a new challenge, running my own cleaning business. I want to grow a profitable business like everyone else. Could I have people's views on pay rates for cleaners. I'm noticing a lot cleaners don't get paid that well. Recently on TV a boss of a holiday company worked incognito as a cleaner to find out what staff thought. There was this grown man with five children and he was on minimum wage, yet the boss was surprised that this man didn't really care about his job. To get good people you do have to pay them. The cost savings are enormous, you don't have to supervise them as much, they will help you grow your business instead of trying to get anything and everything out of it, and hopefully they are loyal to your business. Cleaning is vital, it shows that you care. I would like to see if anyone has any views on this. By the way, this site is so useful with so many people giving advice and uploading great information. Thanks

Hi
We pay ours £6.25 - 6.65 depending on experience
Most are on £6.25 rate all over age of 21, if you want quality cleaners then you got to pay for them.
We also offer a bonus if they stick to hours given and we have a cleaner of the month reward! it works.

I'm based in London so I figure I'd have to start cleaners on £6-6.50 and then for really exceptional cleaners that figure would have to be increased in order to keep them. I'm starting my cleaning business this week. I am very nervous but excited. Thanks for the replies this is such a good forum.
