Title: PAYING FOR POLE SYSTEM
Post by: gaza on April 06, 2005, 10:28:05 pm
Ive just started to tell my customers that it will cost them 1 squid extra next time cus ive got to use a pole system from now on because of the new regs, I  carry with me proof of the new regs the invoice for my equipment the price of resin, and wait for it.a letter from my region water board stating that if I was to use a plant to filter water I would have to be metered,Idont cus mine is loaded into my van strait from the tap,if I do dont tell anyone, and I wont tell on you.Mention metered water and people gasp.Ive done my maths 100 houses a week x 1 squid =100 squid x 52=1 new system payed for.Alot of my work is on a council estate, not a rich area by anymeans all Ive been is honest with people and knowone as battered an eyelid blaming them from Brussels
Funny soon as you mention that city and the EEC  the customers goes on a hate trip about strait cucumbers, conkers
and any other daft idea that theve come up with, then theve forgot youve just told them its going to cost them a squid extra :o

Its a good idea but remember that under the so called new law, ladders are not banned from use. At a hotel I clean I was just told to use the new step off and ladder stopper. Put out all the warning signs and all that, make a risk assessment and carry on. I was told this by the h&s officer. After being told this I checked on the new regs and found that ladders are not banned from use at all. If however you have a wfp then it is more favoured.

I know ladders arnt banned you can use them for access only
your not suppose to work off them and only use them as a last resort eg to gain access to a flat roof for cleaning purposes, and safty devices must be fitted the last resort is footing a ladder checkhttp-www.hse.gov.uk-pub for what I think is latest h/s regs Was that h/s/ inspector who told you to do that, oor was it someone from the hotel, who may double up as a waiter,Iwould write out risk/method assessment and make sure he signed it,may be no good to you if you had a fall
but okay for those left behind.Sorry didnt mean to insult you ladder tecnique

if you dont have a wfp . then ladders are the last resort . im sure ladders can be used as long as they are lashed etc.

no good using drunk ladders :(

they might wander off and start fights with your customers  :P
