does any use this method does it work people sending cheques

I do. I seem to get a steady stream of cheques through the post and it actually costs me a lot less money and time than collecting. I do get the odd customer who doesn't seem to understand, but after a bit of a chat with them they tend to send them asap.

I let the customer do the envelope and post it on or else it would cost me money just for them to pay their bill....

I may start using them in the new year but not with stamps on, more for speed for data inputting, its a right pain sorting out all the cheques I get

same here, used to provide saefor each clean , but some would pay after 3 ths, so 2 sae's wasted,costing me money >:(

i use them all the time and they all come back sae saves me time and less disturbence for the customer

i pay 11 quid for 1000 self seal envelopes.... then print loads of labels off, stick them away they go.... customers pay for the stam lol.... i also drop a note asking them to pay within 7 days.
works ok for me.

25% of youngsters don't even have a cheque book.
I do use addressed envelopes for those that prefer that way.
In spite of me pushing for on line payment, I only have about 6 customers that pay this way.

We use them, the best thing about them is that custies have no real reason not to pay, as we remind them when we follow up our debts.
We find they work well, but must admit that am thinking of just leaving a envelope with our address but not stamped, for exactly the reasons Daz said.

I use them on houses where customer is out at time of clean. I use cheap envelopes with my address printed on the front, I also put a 2nd class stamp on so theres no excuse at all not to pay. I find it works very well indeed. Have had many positive comments "looks very professional" etc. Plus saves time and diesel collecting

We use SAE's and for the most part we don't have any trouble so it seems to be a pretty decent method of receiving payment. You will of course get the odd few customers who refuse to do it for some reason or who are very slow at sending it out. Sometimes you may end up not doing a customer when they are due because you are still waiting for the cheque from the last time. Sometimes you may get a situation when you don't receive the payment but the customer claims to have sent it and if this happens you often end up loosing out.
Our bank has started charging us for paying in cheques now which is a bit of a pain but you can probably find a bank that does it free or at least does it free for the first year.

you won't get direct debit facilitys unless you turnover in excess on a million quid. there are companys that will do it on your behalf but they want to be dealing with about 9k a month

strange my local gym dont turnover much.. they deal with DD's..
but ive never really looked into it.. i was yet to ask my business manager about it.

is your gym just a local one off or part of a chain to a bigger company?

Now that does happen, unfortunately, but very often!

I always put a stamp on them, how many times do you need a stamp to send a letter off and you just havent got one so you wait till you go to the shops & then forget about it anyway. We are all the same custies alike. I buy 100 2nd class stamps for £25.00

I do sae and find I have no problems. This inc stamp.
Each customer has a code like 22dc...... no 22 Derik Close.
This goes on the sae so I know who is sending the cheque incase they forget to put the slip in.
Not had a problem this way. Costs are budgeted in with the job at the start for any new custy's.

;) I can see the logic, but I cant stand the idea of certain customer's who don't pay every month... Paying every other month and "Steaming" the stamp off

its just a local independent gym. But maybe they do do over 9k worth of business in a month, considering the average membership is like 30-40 a month..
Still i could still say to the customers they set up a standing order every month to save 20%, never know might work? I'll see how my 'reminder letters' go first..
