Title: TDS calibration fluid
Post by: Glen on January 21, 2005, 10:07:09 am
Hi all,

First step towards buying a WFP - got a TDS meter! All I need now is calibration solution - do you know what  the best (and cheapest) mail order Co. to get it from is?

Cheers,

Glen

A Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) meter is what all water fed pole users need to ascertain the purity of their water. If the TDS meter is not properly calibrated the reading would be inaccurate.

Is no-one calibrating their meter (!) or are you all too busy to reply? ;)

and how I checked it was working, was to get 2 glasses of water. One pure..one tapwater...it clearly shows the difference...

Most Window cleaning TDS meters are factory callobrated so you dont need to.  :)

Usually when calibrating any device, you would take a pure sample (000-001) and the higher number of the spectrum (say 10,000). A few other samples of say 010 and 050 just to make sure that you are not too far off. I think the price of a fixed meter is around the 30 quid mark, so I wouldn't go to all that trouble just to recalibrate your meter. They are calibrated at the factory, so to open up one of these devices would probably make less sence once you have them all back together again/time etc.
It would probably be quicker to wash your windows to see the outcome!
