Title: Industrial hoover that can suck up petroleum?

Hi,

Has anyone got any ideas on what hoover I could purchase that will suck up petrolium or diesel? I need to clean the bottom of my home fuel tank.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Is this April the 1st???  Yep just use your Henry that should do it no probs.

No you cant use a motor anywhere near petrol.

They vacuum it out with a sludge gulper or similar. The type of things they clean drains with.

Anyway I thought they had a drain plug or similar for draining off the water etc.

You need an air operated vacuum, they work off a venturi and are available from garage equipment vendors

You can also get a venturi vac attatchment for your pressure washer, just run the pwasher water through the kit and drop the suction part of it into the dirty water fresh water you pump via washer comes out of end mixed with the dirty sucked up water. Be carefull where you discharge it though!

Regarding the drain plug, a diesel tank should slope slightly one way. The lowest drian off should be at the lowest level, this is used to drain the water which is heaver than fuel so settles to the bottom. The fuel should be drawn from almost the bottom of the RAISED end so you never in theory pull water out, it just lies harmlessly in the low end and can't be got at unless you remove the lowest plug. Unless of course years go by or water gets in enough to be higher tan the fuel draw off

No one mentioned using a motor at all. Just what type of hoover to use. Whether it was air operated etc etc. The date is May 23rd. Get off your high horse!!!!

You might be able to get one on ebay, I think I have seen one floating about on there recently. £100.00 does'nt sound too expensive though.

The problem is that, the cap came off the tank, was not noticed, and a lot of debris also blew off a nearby hedge into the tank. Would the air operated vacuum tackle bits of hedge etc as well as the fuel? Thanks.
