Anyone used "magic sand" for grouting paving after cleaning, would be interested for your feedback, cheers Neil
-
Do you mean the kid's toy stuff?
-
Its an additive that you mix with kiln dried sand that changes its properties and makes it solid
-
Where do you get that from then?
Sounds good.
-
ordered some this week along with some sealant, will let you know how I get on with them both www.advancedsealingsolutions.co.uk
-
You can buy it from most builders merchants already pre mixed in twenty kilo bags or boxes ,dont no price though.
-
looks like alternative to pave fix type products but the picture shows it being brushed into block paving.
isnt this meant as an alternative to pointing? is it suitable to brush into block paving? you wouldent normally point block paving.
Im not sure where its intended to be used?
-
Its for use on slabs not block, and for gaps of over 5mm
-
Yes... a little misleading with the photos, but looks good and a good price too.
-
i wonder if you could still seal over it? also you would have to put a little more on your quote for using the magic sand.
-
i thought block paving was meant to be flexible with the weight of cars on it??
-
used the sand today sets within 30 mins looks great
-
can you seal after you have done the sanding?
-
any pics?
does it look strong?, how good is it compared to pointing? how long do you expect it to last?
cheers
steve

doesnt seem as strong as mortar mix,but good enough for patios and crazy paving, difficult to say how long it will last, will try to get some pictures tomorrow after I seal it
-
cheers, look forwards to them. if poss could you do one before the seal aswell.
would it stand upto another clean or would it all come out?
-
can you seal after you have done the sanding?
Yes you can, thats what it's designed for. I did some and sealed it straight away looks great joints set well considering the geofix type stuff is abot £20 a pack and you have to use all pack within 25 mins or so of opening'
With magig sand you can mix as little as you need
-
as anyone got any photos of work that they have done with magic sand? also where do you get it from.
-
Does it do the same job as keybond which you put on wit watering can after sanding.

Does it do the same job as keybond which you put on wit watering can after sanding.
No, It's similar to geofix but you mix it with kiln dried sand. Just make up as much or as little as you need to use
-
hi, does it stain the blocks in any way?
-
No
-
it says on their site that you mix the liquid with the sand , but if they sand is damp you cant brush it in?/ weird! ???
-
its not for block paving its for slabs with gaps over 5mm,brushes in easily
-
on their website it shows block paving? ???
