Title: black tree sap

I just finished a york stone patio,dirt came off really easily with my surface cleaner,but there is loads of black tree sap . Ive tried acid and prochem stone cleaner,but the sap wont budge.Any ideas.Steve.

Have you tried a wipe with xylene as the sap is basically a resin

When i used to clean cars for a living the only thing which would remove sap of paintwork was cellelose thiners this will break down with water

is it sap or lichen?  lichen is the black dots that cover blockpaving and flags? ???
